FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need to reduce our sugar consumption?
As a nation, we are eating way too much sugar. Too much sugar can have seriously detrimental effects on our health, such as weight gain, increased risk of disease (such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes) and tooth decay. Many of us are therefore trying to reduce our sugar intake, but many products you wouldn't expect contain hidden sugars which we don't account for.
Can pregnant women have your mayonnaise?
Yes, because we use pasteurised eggs in all of our mayonnaises (except our Vegan Mayonnaise, which is egg free). Pasteurisation kills harmful bacteria so is safe for pregnant women to consume.
Why don't you have a low-fat mayonnaise?
Although low-fat mayonnaises contain less calories and fat than regular mayonnaise, the fat is often replaced with nasty ingredients such as starch and sugar to improve the taste and texture. At Dr Will's, we don't want to add sugar or other unnatural ingredients to our products, so we keep it as is. Plus, we think it's better to choose a product made with proper ingredients and packed with good fats, over something unnatural and full of nasties.
What are healthy fats?
Healthy fats refer to essential fatty acids. They are called essential because our body can't make them, so we need to get them from our diet. Fat may be high in calories, it keeps us feeling fuller for longer and we need it to absorb fat soluble vitamins, such as A, D E and K.
Do your products contain healthy fats?
Yes! Most of our mayonnaises contain British rapeseed oil. Rapeseed oil is low in saturated fat, and is rich in mono-unsaturated fat, so good news for your cholesterol and heart health. It's high in vitamin E too, a fat-soluble vitamin which strengthens the immune system. In our Avocado Oil Mayonnaise, we use avocado oil which is rich in omega-9 monounsaturated fats. This is linked to heart and brain health and is especially good for our skin.
Are your products suitable for children?
Definitely. Dr Will's products contain no added sugar, so have way less sugar than the market leaders. This is great news for kids' dental health.
Are your products suitable for vegetarians?
Yes. All of our products are suitable for vegetarians.
Are your products suitable for vegans?
All of our tomato-based sauces are vegan and our vegan mayonnaise is also vegan (surprise surprise).
Do you use anything artificial?
Nope. Our products contain no artificial colours, flavours or mysterious ingredients you haven't heard of.
Are all of your products gluten free?
Yes, absolutely. All of our products are gluten free.
Do your products contain added sugar or salt?
We don't add sugar to any of our products as we don't believe it's necessary. We think our products taste delicious as they are. There is some salt in our products, but we use less than the market leaders.
Why do you use beetroot in your ketchup?
We originally added beetroot to our Tomato Ketchup recipe when we were testing different ingredients to sweeten the sauce. We liked the taste so much, we decided to make it into a separate product! Plus, beetroot has loads of impressive health benefits, such as positive effect on blood pressure.
Do your products contain trans fats?
Nope, none of our products contain any nasty trans fats. Companies tend to use trans fats as a cheap way to improve the taste and texture of products, but we believe in using only good quality natural ingredients.

What are we up to now?
Fast forward a year, Dr Will’s upped sticks from our Northern roots and set up camp in London, where the food scene is thriving.
Since our launch we’ve now grown to a team of four full-time condiment connoisseurs in a co-working space in Vauxhall, where we’re working on spreading the Dr Will’s message as far and wide as possible.
The Dr Will's Promise
We promise to create great products, bursting with integrity and flavour. They will never contain any of the bad stuff.
Redefining condiments, naturally.
