Griddling tofu gives it a wonderful, caramelised texture, and marinading it in our BBQ sauce adds a fantastic smokiness. You could adapt this recipe however you wanted, adding vegan mayonnaise or hot sauce to bring in some extra flavours.
Full ingredients and recipe listed below:
1 block extra firm tofu, sliced into thick pieces
4 tbsp Dr Will’s BBQ Sauce
½ tsp hot smoked paprika
3 tsp soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
1 large tomato, sliced
½ small red onion, sliced
Handful lettuce leaves
1-2 tbsp Dr Will's BBQ Sauce
Place the tofu in a bowl and cover it with Dr Will’s BBQ Sauce, Soy Sauce, and Paprika and stir well to coat the tofu. Leave to marinade for 15 minutes.
Heat the olive oil in a griddle pan over a medium heat, and griddle the tofu for 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Once the tofu has turned golden, remove from the heat.
Toast the ciabatta roll and assemble your sandwiches, starting with the tofu, then the tomatoes, the lettuce and the onions. Before serving, add an extra dollop of Dr Will’s BBQ Sauce.
